Songs & Stories I
10.10. – 26.10. 2025 Strömstad/SE
ongs & Stories I is an exhibition about the working methods and artistic stance
of katrinem and Sam Auinger. At the beginning, there is always a pause and listening. Attentive listening fosters presence and cultivates an embodied and reflective relationship to place. In this way, the way space speaks becomes audible; the emotional qualities of places begin to “sing their songs.” Every place has color and rhythm, is embedded in manifold relations, and carries its stories within. Through shared reflection and questioning, unexpected communicative spaces emerge, allowing those who have experienced these situations to add their voices.
Koster and Ursholmen are part of the Koster archipelago within Kosterhavet National Park. Here— especially on Ursholmen—everyday life is palpably shaped by planetary forces and cycles. Songs & Stories addresses these conditions through close observation and experimental interfaces that make weather, materials, and movement tangible.
The exhibition invites you to focus on the specific space you are in at present. It tells of the often overlooked forces and relations that surround us daily—and that reveal themselves only through practiced attentiveness. This alternative approach to listening forms a basis for
a constructive, communal approach to our living environments—in both climatic and social contexts. In this way, new narratives emerge.
