The exhibition Critical Friends, curated by Julia Heunemann and Ulrike Riebel for Kunstverein Tiergarten at rk-Galerie, presents works by Sam Auinger, Ingo Gerken, Julia Lübbecke, and Katharina Reich, bringing them into a multimedia dialogue on collecting as an artistic practice.
The sound works, performances, and installation-based positions address questions surrounding the politics and representational forms of collections. At the same time, they open up new approaches to the objects of the display depot, which was assembled during the symposium at the beginning of the project and is presented in a specially developed display.
Sam Auinger’s site-specific sound project explores the urban surroundings of rk-Galerie as a field for musical listening. At the center of the score is Rathauspark. Auinger invites visitors to contribute their own perceptions to an open archive.
